Reuben Pigs in the Blanket

The best things about America’s favorite melty, cheesy meaty sandwich all rolled up into a delicious little pig in a blanket.

Ingredients:

½ cup chopped and drained sauerkraut
1 eight ounce tub of crescent roll dough
3 ounces shredded Swiss cheese
24 beef cocktail franks
1 large egg, lightly beaten
Caraway seeds for topping
Serve with a side of 1000 island dressing for dipping

Directions:

Step 1:  Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: Unroll the crescent dough and pinch the seams together with your fingers. Cut the dough in half lengthwise, and then slice each half crosswise into 12 strips. Place the 1 teaspoon of sauerkraut on each strip leaving a ½ inch border on one short end. Sprinkle with cheese. Place 1 frank on each strip of dough and roll the dough around the frank, pressing lightly to seal.

Step 3: Transfer to the baking sheet seam side down, brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with caraway seeds. Bake until the dough is golden brown, about 15 minutes. Serve with 1000 island dressing.
