Olivette On The Go is a carnival I am helping to run for the city of Olivette. We are looking for corporate sponsors or venders, so get a hold of me if you want to know more information. It’s at Stacy Park September 28th, 29th and 30th. But if you can’t make it here are a couple of recipes to try at home. – Bon Appetit! Larry G.
Kettle Corn Directions Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Once hot, stir in the sugar and popcorn. Cover and shake the pot constantly to keep the sugar from burning. Once the popping has slowed to once every 2 to 3 seconds, remove the pot from the heat and continue to shake for a few minutes until the popping has stopped. Pour into a large bowl, and allow to cool, stirring occasionally to break up the large clumps.
Funnel Cake Directions 1) Sift together the flour , baking soda, band salt2) In a large bowl mix together the eggs and the milk. Add the flour mixture to the eggs and mix until smooth. It should look like slightly thin pancake batter. If not either add more milk or more flour. 3) In an 8 inch skillet, heat the oil to 360 degrees 4) Put your finger over the bottom opening of a funnel, and fill with a generous ½ cup of batter. Hold the funnel close to the surface of the oil, and release the batter into the oil while making a circular motion. Fry until golden brown. Use tongs to turn the cake over. Fry the second side until done. Drain on a paper towel and sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
