Berry Shortcake Jars

Prep Time: 25 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Serving Size: 6 jars

Ingredients:

1 pint strawberries, sliced
1 pint blueberries
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
2/3 cup milk
1 cup whipped cream

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 400°F.
Toss berries with sugar and lemon zest; set aside.
In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Cut in butter until crumbly, then stir in milk until just combined.
Drop dough onto baking sheet in 6 even mounds.
Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool shortcakes, slice in half, and layer into jars with berries and whipped cream.
