Boozy Cherry Slushy

Who needs artificial red food coloring when homemade cherry syrup is SO easy AND delicious!?

For The Cocktails

  • 5 cups ice
  • 1 cup cherry juice (unsweetened)
  • 1/4 cup cherry syrup (see recipe below)
  • the juice of 1 lime
  • 1/3 cup ginger ale
  • 3 oz. Hangar 1 Straight Vodka
  • 2 cherries for garnish

Add ice to a blender followed by cherry juice, cherry syrup, lime juice, ginger ale and Hangar 1 Straight Vodka.. Blend until frothy. Divide among two tall glasses. Garnish each drink with a cherry and serve with straws.

For The Cherry Syrup

Makes about 1 1/2 cups

  • 1 lb. fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 lime peels
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1 1/2 cups water

Place cherries, sugar, lime peels, lime juice and water in a sauce pot over medium heat. Cook until cherries are bursting and liquid starts to bubble, about 7-8 minutes. Remove cherry syrup from heat and let cherries cool/steap for about 1o minutes. Remove cherries from the syrup and strain cooled cherry syrup into a pint size mason jar. Mixture will keep in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
